Champaign, Illinois, August 17, 2011 — We know. To look at our fresh faces, you wouldn't think we were a day over 10. But the calendar doesn't lie. On Monday, August 15th, Spinlight marked its 11th year as a company. And while that's the age when most are dreading the sixth grade, we're looking forward to the second chapter. And getting more excited by the minute. Because if the first few pages are any indication, it's going to be a really sweet read.
One giant leap.
Every once in a while, you have to take a chance — a pulse-pounding, gut-checking, leap into the unknown. To see if the Earth is round. To learn if the moon really is made of green cheese. Or, in our case, to take a big bite out of the bright, shiny Apple and see what's waiting inside.
In February, we made that leap, creating our first app for the Apple iPad and releasing it to audiences worldwide. It wasn't complicated, just a simple mix and match puzzle game for the tech-savvy toddler set called Swapsies. But the little tikes loved it. And soon, we were cranking out more titles for both the iPad and iPhone/iPod Touch. And moving at break-neck speed. In eight months we've released eight apps. And the bright shiny Apple was starting to notice us.
Our two biggest releases to date — AlphaTots and TallyTots — brought major kudos from the crew at Cupertino, who named the apps to their What's Hot, New & Noteworthy and Staff Favorite lists and included each in two different education emails. With that, we entered the big list — passing apps from Disney, Dora and Oprah on our way up the list of the Top 100 paid iPad apps in the U.S. store. Since then, both apps have reached another milestone, making the list of the Top 100 education apps in 30 countries around the world. Schools have also started downloading the app, taking TallyTots and AlphaTots from the kitchen table to the front of the class. And now that we've done all of that educating and stuff, it's time to have some fun.
A little song. A little dance. A little guy in leather pants.
Today marks the official release of Yodel-Oh!, a new game for the iPad and iPhone/iPod Touch, featuring a little hero in lederhosen, original accordion music and more sheep than you can shake a schnitzel at. If you haven't checked it out yet, go to yodel-oh.com and download your copy today. Break 15,000 points and you could even win a hat with a feather and a Yodel-Oh! patch. Perfect for any 11-year old … or anyone else who simply refuses to grow up.
